I have a poem in this collection about the January 6 insurrection.
Description from Gnashing Teeth Publishing:
on January 6th, 2021, insurrectionists stormed the Capitol building in Washington, D.C. the nation, and the world, watched in horror as these insurrectionists and traitors broke windows, stole government property, beat and killed police officers, and attempted to overthrow democracy. poets responded.
we immediately opened up our page and gave space for people from around the world to respond to the events as they unfolded. the outpouring of horror, rage, disbelief, and even hope flooded in from around the world. these poets reminded us of who we are as Americans and as humans.
a decision was made to reopen our submission window for poets and writers and artists to come together and mark this moment in our nation’s history. the “Insurrection” anthology is a glimpse into the heart and soul of those who not only love America, but believe in our strength and our resolve. no matter how flawed, our nation offers hope and light, a light which shines still, despite its dimming on January 6th.
