Larry and the Berry There once was a boy named Larry. He had a big fat berry. He spit on the berry. It turned into a cherry, that gobbled up poor Larry. His friend, Jerry, opened up the berry. This is a throwback poem from a previously published book. I’ll be posting throwbacks every Wednesday.
I wrote this form breaking limerick as a kid during a summer writing program at Leonardo’s in Enid, Oklahoma in the mid-90s. At the time I was heavily into the 3 Stooges, so it amounts to poetic fanfic, which is what most of my earliest writings in the 5th grade consisted of. It’s one of my oldest writings that still survives.
